Ground Speed Controlled Water Delivery System
Large Off Highway Water Truck

ECO Spray Delivery System, uses truck ground speed inputs to provide an inherently safe water delivery spray control system for large off highway water trucks. As the name suggests ECO spray uses advanced electronic controls with parameters which control the application of both pump speed and spray head activation, either pneumatic or double acting hydraulic. These parameters are based on a series of phases where the sprays and water pump speed settings are preset at truck speed increments. The four phases are as follows:-

Phase 1 Truck stationary or below 5 km/h: no sprays operational.

Phase 2 Trucks travelling at speed greater than 5km/h but less than 15km/h MINI spray heads are operational. The three spray heads remain operational until the speed of the truck decreases to < 5 km/h (reverts back to phase 1).
  • Operation of MINI (low flow water) spray heads only (maximum 1250 L/min)
  • Three spray heads selectable (position 1 / 2 / 3)
  • Pump speed 1 selectable (lowest pump output)
  • Please note the operator can also manually select phase 2 which will lock out phase 3 thus allowing the operator to use less water at higher speeds if required.

Phase 3 Truck travelling at speed of 15 km/h or greater - phase 2 shuts off - phase 3 activates. MAXI spray heads are operational

The three spray heads remain operational until the speed of the truck decreases to < 15 km/h (reverts back to phase 2).
  • Only three MAXI (high flow water)spray heads operational
  • Spray heads selectable (position 4 / 5 / 6)
  • Pump speed 1 ~ 4 are selectable

  • System Override To overcome events where water is required outside the control function parameters; a system "override" switch has been fitted. The switch is of the key lockable type and once activated will allow full operator selection of the control panel (all pump speeds/spray heads can be selectable).

Hydraulic System The hydraulic control in most cases will use the existing truck control system with the addition of a speed control valve, which will provide four separate water pump speeds. These speeds are mechanically adjustable and would be preset at commissioning.

Spray Bar The spray bar design is based on modification of existing spray bar to incorporate the two sets of spray heads, Maxi Head and Mini Head. Mini spray heads engage at lower speeds (to prevent over deluge of water) and Maxi heads engage at higher speeds where more water is required. Please note the spray head adapter is designed with a 10 degree down angle to give better water delivery to the ground. Where hydraulic spray heads are required "double acting" hydraulic cylinders and controls will be fitted this allows for faster spray head reaction time, giving greater spray head control.

Conclusion ECO Spray will provide the engineering controls required to remove outdated, ineffective administrative controls, currently used to prevent the common problem of over deluge of water on mine roads. It removes the problematic ineffective "Spot Spray" method of operation. Finally as ECO Spray can just as easily be retro fitted to your existing water truck fleet or any new water trucks, it has the added advantage of providing common controls across your entire fleet, thus reducing the requirement for change management.
